Alone

Feelings haunt you; on your pillow,
in your shower; all through your day,
memories taunt you with a billow,
of hopeless dreams gone astray.

Where's your exit? Where's your way out?
why are you left here on your own?
a thousand faces in colder places,
smile and turn around: you're alone.

Sing your own song, all night long
It doesn't matter if you're out of tune,
just remember while you sing it,
that you are never, never alone.

Does it matter; if you're sorry,
if you're right or if you're wrong.
does it matter; if you worry,
that no one's around to sing your song.

You feel you're static, an' it's dramatic,
to think that you would never change,
life is a furnace, with an angry sternness;
that's meant to forge or wickedly derange.

Sing your own song, all night long
It doesn't matter if you're out of tune,
Just remember while you sing it,
That you are never on your own.

End
